A high temperature in the milking parlour is a daily problem. Abbi-Aerotech designed a new air intake unit which can easily be placed in any milking parlour. It is “Plug and Play”.
For lower buildings, air intake can be a problem. With our airtubes we can design a ventilation system for different kinds of animals like cows, calves, goats etc. This air tube system brings lots of fresh outside air into the building, but without any draught.

For the very cold climate we have our air cushion curtains to create an insulation during the winter time and a big air opening during the warmer period.

Modern dairy barns are equipped with ventilation systems to provide cows an optimum living environment the whole year round. In cold winter conditions it is necessary to install insulated curtains. Abbi-Aerotech delivers a double-walled system that can be inflated in extremely cold weather. The curtain works as a normal curtain and only filled with air when the curtain is closed. The curtain material is airtight and is more than just a roller blind. Air is blown into the curtain in the closed position by 1 or 2 pumps, depending on the height of the curtain. This saves energy and only requires smaller pumps. Curtain lengthes of 55 meter can be achieved and when placing the winchmotor in the middle of the sidewall, 110 meter can be bridged.

Milking parlour ventilation systems

The new milking parlour ventilation concept, which has been designed by Abbi-Aerotech, has a unique air-dividing unit to avoid high temperatures in the milking parlour. Fresh air is taken from outside through a chimney, and blow into the milking parlour. This creates fresh and cool air, and gives less fly problems.

Tube ventilation systems
Tube ventilation systems

The new ventilation system, which is made by Abbi-Aerotech, is using air tubes. It is specially designed for calves, dairy and  young goat farms to avoid any cold draught as well as to realize the optimum ventilation. The tubes have special designed openings which are different for each specific farm. Air tubes are available in different diameters and lengths, depending on the dimensions and design of the barn, the type and number of cattle and their weight. Specifications: Fabric PMS- 100% Polyester, thickness 0,30mm. Fire resistance class B-s1, machine washable.

Mechanical ventilation
Mechanical ventilation

Natural ventilation is a good way to ventilate cattle barns. However, on hot days with temperatures above 20°C, cows start having trouble to lose heat and additional air movement must be provided! This improves the heat release of the animals and thus reduces the risk of heat stress. It is important to start ventilating early; low air velocities already suffice to shift the lead-up to heat stress and while the temperature rises, the air velocity is increased proportionally.

Placement of the fan

Tests have shown that the best results are achieved when the fans are placed both above the cows on the feeding line and above the head-to-head freestalls. Ideally, fans are placed at a height of 2.7 m, directed downwards at an angle of aprox. 15-30°. The air velocity and the blow length of the fan determine the intermediate distance.

Tunnel ventilation system
Tunnel ventilation system

Fans can also be placed in the outside wall to draw outside air into the barn through cooling panels. This method, the so-called tunnel ventilation system, can realize temperature reductions of as much as 8 to 12°C! A good cooling system produces an air velocity at animal height of at least 2.5-3.0 m/sec throughout the barn. While the temperature of the air does not drop, the wind chill at this air velocity means that the animals experience a temperature that is 2 to 4°C lower.

Extra cooling
Extra cooling

Extra cooling can be provided by fitting a fogging system to the fans. A separate fogging system only works in combination with fans, whereby measures should be taken to prevent extreme humidity. A ring of high-pressure (70Bar) spraying nozzles can be mounted to the fan, with a time clock or special regulator ensuring regular water atomisation. The very fine droplets evaporate quickly, lowering the air temperature by some 3 to 4°C.

Control equipment
Control equipment

The speed of the fan can be regulated by means of a frequency controller, guaranteeing low energy consumption at low speeds. Abbi-Aerotech provides various options for automatic ventilation control by means of frequency controllers in combination with a DCC-1 or DCC-1SH temperature controller.   The DF-Control, (Dairy Frequency control) is a state of the art frequency inverter for 3-phase motors with extra energy efficiency.
